Braun Lift - NHTSA Safety Notice
Posted Monday, April 9, 2012
NELA has learned that vehicles equipped with 2006-2010 model year Braun lifts have been identified by NHTSA as containing potentially dangerous lift rollstop barrier latches that may fail during operation and not provide a stop for loaded wheel chairs. Click here to download pdf document.
The lifts identified by NHTSA/Braun include the (Series AA through DA) Century and Vista 2nd generation Dual Parallel Arm model wheelchair lifts manufactured from November, 2006 to September, 2010. These lifts may develop or exhibit a defect related to the outer rollstop latch.
If you purchased, lease or operate a vehicle with one of the identified Braun lifts, you should contact an authorized Braun dealer to have the vehicle evaluated for this defect. You can reach the Braun Customer Service Center at 1-800-488-0359
If you are/were an installer, you should contact Braun and the NHTSA safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to http//www.safercar.gov
You will need to provide the authorized service center with vehicle information such as year, make, model and VIN (vehicle identification number) as well as the lift model and serial number (which is located on a manufacturer plate located on the lift).
Thank you all for your commitment to safety as we work with NHTSA and Braun to complete these inspections and repairs.
