NELA ByLaw Changes
Posted Thursday, February 3, 2005

Dear Fellow Members,

Mailed to you was a packet where you will find an amended version of the original bylaws of 1993 when the association was formed.  These bylaws have guided the association for many years.  However in thirteen years, as we are all aware, many things change.  We initiated a review of our bylaws due to the many changes we have experienced in the industry over the last several years, and the exciting things that we are doing as an organization.

A committee was formed to look at the current bylaws and make some changes to the bylaws to bring them up to the standards of today’s business environment.  To improve upon the 1993 bylaws, the committee spent much time.  So please take a moment out of your day to review the changes yourself.  The intent is for the new bylaws to guide this organization through the next thirteen years and beyond.  Some of the changes are due to our commitment to be an educational organization, especially in the area of how to conduct your business with an eye on federal, state, and municipal regulations.  We have not been, and will never be, a policing body.

There is a proxy form enclosed with your copy of the bylaws. Please fill it out and send it back to the association office in one of your company’s envelopes.  We will use these proxy forms along with a vote at our March membership meeting to approve the changes.

The original bylaws from 1993 are on our website, at

Please detach and mail the Bylaws Ballot to us no later than March 1, 2005.

These are very exciting times to be a member of this organization. There are many great things happening.  So please exercise your right as a member and get involved in this process.  I hope to see you all at our March membership meeting where we will ratify these changes.  Hope you can make it.
