Massachusetts State Police and DPU Operator Compliance Checks
Posted Friday, May 13, 2011
It has been reported that the Massachusetts State Police along with the Massachusetts DPU are conducting random compliance checks at Logan Airport and in downtown Boston. It appears that these checks will continue to occur for some time.

The area of concern presently affecting our members is that of operating vehicles with a seating capacity of 8 or more passengers. To avoid fines and having the vehicle placed out of service, you must have the following.
  1. Medical card issued to the driver
  2. Passenger permit, 14-passenger or less, issued by the Department of Public Utilities and Transportation Oversight Division
  3. Vehicle marking on both sides of the required vehicles
  4. Paperwork placed in the vehicle containing the UCR certificate and/or documents containing the MC and USDOT information and inspection log book
  5. Driver log book

All of the requirements can be found at the U.S. Department of Transportation's FMCSA website, Rules & Regulations and/or referring to the MA Transportation Oversight Division at www.mass.gov

If your experience during a compliance check is unprofessional, please ask for the name of the individual and let us know by contacting the NELA office at 866.736.6352 or info@nelivery.org.
